Co-op and PvP are the same screen. Your faction is the raid group. The other three colours are the raid bosses that also have raid groups.
There is no matchmaking rating. There is a pixel count per banner. If Volt is losing, join Volt. That is the balancing act, and it is public on purpose.

How many players?
As many as the board can take. Online count is on the world snapshot. There are no instance shards in Season 1.
